I was born in Mississippi in the sleepy river town of Natchez where I spent the first 17 years of my life as a painfully shy, nose-in-books child. Through my undergrad and graduate studies I made my way up I-20 and settled into Columbia, South Carolina. In between my classes at library school and with a renewed interest in fashion, I taught myself to sew and eventually picked up the crochet hook which hadn't been touched since my pre-teen years. Between writing papers and working towards my MLIS, I began making accessories and pieces to fill the needs of my closet. Frustrated with the lack of updated and fresh crochet patterns, I started counting stitches to form my own designs. With the craft revival and DIY fashion community beginning to flourish, I began selling these pieces online for a bit of extra funding. I have since been an Etsy featured seller, had my designs carried by Modcloth and sold at many other boutiques locally, nationally and worldwide. In 2012, my first book of crochet patterns, Crochet Boutique, was published by Lark Crafts//Sterling Publishing. My second book, Crochet Boutique: Hats, was released in 2014. I currently work as a Branch Librarian in a charming rural area of South Carolina.
